Daniel Hubmann – a really great year

Daniel Hubmann wanted to do well in the World Cup race today even though he became the overall winner of the World Cup this year before the race.
Hubmann has won the World Cup overall before. He has showed strength in all the disciplines. “It feels good to be back again after two years of injuries,” he says. He got an injury at the Relay at the European Championships in Sweden two years ago, missed WOC on home ground and also last year he needed some time before he was really back.
In the Middle Distance race today with the finish area in central Liestal, he had a gap of 1.45 minutes to the second best. “It’s always very important with the World Cup in Switzerland and I wanted to show that I can do well in this terrain on home ground,” he says.
Hubmann won both Middle and Long at the European Championships in April. At WOC he got three medals. The very clear overall victory shows his high level all season. “I am very satisfied with the season. It has been very good. A gold at WOC is the only thing missing,” the Swiss says.
