CISM World Military Orienteering Championships

The CISM World Military Orienteering Championships has been held in Finland this week. Estonian Timo Sild and Russian Svetlana Mironova had a successful championship, both of them winning both the Middle and the Long distance. The Polish team also had a good championship, winning several medals, with the gold in the women’s Relay as highlight.
The Middle distance winners were Timo Sild and Svetlana Mironova. Olli-Markus Taivainen and Miika Kirmula, both Finland, took the silver and the bronze in the men’s class. It was an Austrian silver in the women’s class through Ursula Kadan. Anastasiia Rudnaia, Russia took the bronze.
Timo Sild also won the Long distance, with Leonid Novikov, Russia second and Wojciech Kowalski, Poland third. And after unbeatable Svetlana Mironova, Anastasiia Rudnaia took the silver and her second medal in the Long distance. It was Poland on the third place also in the Long though Aleksandra Hornik.
Russia won the men’s Relay with Dmitry Nakoechny, Valentin Novikov and Leonid Novikov in the team. Estonia was second and Poland third. Poland surprisingly won the women’s Relay with Agata Stankiewicz, Hanna Wisniewskaand Aleksandra Hornik in the team.
