Catherine Taylor has followed the big dream and showed in the World Cup final yet again that she really is an incredible navigator.

In the last race in World Cup Catherine Taylor took a smashing victory. Her first ever triumph in World Cup was taken with a margin of 102 seconds.

– It’s a bit unbelievable, she smiles.

The 26 year old knew for sure that she was doing an incredible race. She had some small mistakes, but in total it wasn’t more than half a minute.

– But I thought somebody could do it better, she says.

At the middle she ran terrific. On the day before she didn’t finish. There were too many mistakes.

Catherine has grown up with orienteering and got the feeling for it. The woman from Whitby in Yorkshire in Northeast England also wanted to follow her big talent and moved to Sweden to increase her orienteering skills.

– I’ve been living in Sweden in two periods, almost five years in total, the 26 year old says.

In Uppsala, not so far from capital Stockholm, she is a member of the club Linné, the same club as Annika Billstam, and finds it to be a good training environment.

The British top orienteer is combining orienteering with about half time work as a translator.

– I’m so happy when I am doing orienteering.

– Why are you doing it so well?

– I work hard.

Before yesterday a third spot from the long distance at EOC last year was her best performance. At WOC at home in Great Britain earlier this autumn she was fifth on the middle and sixth on the long distance. It’s a lot of good results, but more will come. Catherine is ready for taking first positions also at championships.

Next year it’s both EOC and WOC and the last one it’s in her new country – Sweden.
