The cooperation among Central-European orienteering federations (CEOC – Central European Orienteering Cooperation) has been officially established at a meeting in Csákvár, Hungary. Two fundamental documents were adopted: the code of functioning of the cooperation and special rules for the Central European Youth Orienteering Cup (CEYOC).

EU: s new data protection regulations General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) come into effect on the 25th of May 2018. The new regulations set higher standards on personal data protection and the IOF manages several information systems and databases containing personal data.

The Swiss runners were very successful on the European Orienteering Championships in Ticino, Switzerland. On the final day of championships, the long distance titles went to Olav Lundanes, Norway and Tove Alexandersson, Sweden. The Swiss remained for the first time without a title after three golden days.

The sport of orienteering has just started in Singapore. The Orienteering Federation Singapore became a member of the IOF last summer. The federation was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and sent 5 orienteers from Singapore to Japan on the 20-28th of November.

The Global Orienteering Volunteer Project was initiated in Autumn 2017 by the IOF Regional and Youth Development Commission. The principle aim is to bring orienteers who would like to share their expertise together with countries, clubs and orienteering communities which are in need of a helping hand.
