Sweden’s women and Finland’s men took the golds in the final race of the Junior World Orienteering Championships, the Relay, at Rauland, Norway today.

Olii Ojanaho, Finland added the Long Distance crown to his Middle Distance gold medal today, winning by a comfortable 1.15. Sweden’s Sara Hagström took the women’s gold.

Middle Distance Champions after today’s races are Anine Ahlsand, Norway and Olli Ojanaho, Finland. Both won by a margin of 14 seconds.

Scandinavian and Swiss athletes took all but one of the eighteen top-three placings in today’s qualification races, with Sara Hagstrom, Sweden the most impressive with a win by more than 3 minutes.

05/07/2015 || Junior World Orienteering Championships: Repeat Sprint gold for Tim Robertson ||News||

Tim Robertson, New Zealand took gold in the JWOC Sprint for the second time today, but it was a close-run thing – he won by just 3 seconds. Women’s gold medallist is 17-year-old Simona Aebersold, Switzerland.

Almost 300 athletes from 37 nations will be competing in the Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) in Norway throughout the coming week. All competitions apart from the Sprint will be held in forested terrain at altitudes between 700 and 1100 m.
