A vital part of IOF Event Quality is the Event Adviser. Each year, a number of discipline specific clinics are held to educate new Event Advisers. Here is an overview of upcoming clinics.

The international Ski Orienteering season starts November 27th with the sprint competition at the World Cup in Ylläs, Finland.
Based upon experience gained at the European Ski Orienteering Championships earlier in 2017 and recommendations from the SkiO Athletes Commission, the IOF Council have approved several changes and clarifications to the competition rules for ski orienteering.

The new policy makes Event planning easier, and contains an appendix with the IOF Event Period Calendar for Foot Orienteering Events. The Calendar is a good tool to use for Organisers and Federations to plan applications and find out possible and impossible periods for IOF Foot Orienteering Events.

The final European Cup event of the 2017 TrailO season took place in Slovakia last weekend. In an exciting event, the 26-year-old Swedish athlete Marit Wiksell won the TempO competition and secured the overall crown.

After Council meeting 186 in Stockholm all disciplines competition rules have been updated together with World Ranking Scheme rules, SkiO World Cup 2017-2018 special rules and Approved Punching system rules.

On the latest meeting the IOF Council made decisions regarding masters map scale and qualifications method.

On its last meeting the IOF Council agreed on the proposed third sprint format; a one-day competition with qualification and elimination heats.

The IOF Council approved two new members to the RYDC commission on its meeting in Stockholm last week.

Malin Fuhr, IOF Global Development and Communications Officer, will be taking a parental leave of absence from November 7, 2017 until May 1, 2018. This means some changes and adjustments in the IOF Office.
