Misa Tuomala is training hard and is a fast skier, but the Finn didn’t use full speed all the way in the middle distance in the Junior World Championships in ski orienteering. “You really had to be careful. All the way it was difficult”, says the Finn.
There were a lot of tracks and also extra high speed, since it was just above freezing and the skis went fast away. The 18-year-old athlete is from Jyväskyla in the middle of Finland and is really working hard to get success. “I am training from ten to twenty hours every week”, he says.
The junior men’s course was 6.8 km long with 19 controls. The Norwegian Jonas Madslien Bakken was second, beaten by 48 seconds. “I had a very good race. I like it technically difficult. My orienteering skills are maybe better than my physical skills”, Bakken says.
