Brought into the sport by father and friend

William Hubsch lives in Los Angeles, but the way into the sport was quite obvious. It wasn’t so obvious for Austin Fowler, but both are taking part at JWOC.
William and Austin are a part of the team from USA. William is 18, and is taking part in his third JWOC. “Why I started with orienteering? My father does it. That’s the reason”, he says.
William was 39th in the Middle Qualification today and is ready for the B-final.
Austin is in Norway for the second time, and it’s his second JWOC. “A friend introduced me to the sport”, he says. Austin was 47th in qualification and will be in the C-final.
In the Sprint the two team-mates was placed after each other – William was number 125 and Austin 126. 154 took part.
They are both in a new landscape, but they got some practice in advance since the team came to Europe two-and-a-half weeks before the games started. That gave possibilities for training.
