After discussing the matter with the national federations at the IOF Presidents’ Conference in August 2011, the IOF Council has now prepared a proposal for the future World Orienteering Championships (WOC) programme. The proposal, together with background information and implementation details, has been sent to the IOF member federations.

Annika Billstam stopped orienteering at the age of 17. Her break took eight years, but when she finally returned to orienteering, she noticed how much she had missed the sport. She decided to start to train again. Ten years later, she became World Orienteering Champion on long distance. Read her story in Athlete of the Month – November.

At its meeting in Helsinki, Finland, the IOF Council discussed the current status of the WOC in the Future project.
29/10/2011 || World Masters Orienteering Championships 2013 and 2014 ||News||
World Masters Orienteering Championships 2013 will take place in the beginning of August 2013 in Turin, Italy. The IOF has appointed Tony Thornley (GBR) IOF Senior Event Adviser and Tulla Spinelli (SUI) Assistant Event Adviser for the championships.

The IOF Council has appointed IOF Event Advisers for the ski orienteering season 2012-2013.
26/10/2011 || Registration for Ski Orienteering Event Advisers’ clinics 2012 has started ||News||
The IOF Ski Orienteering Commission will organise two Event Advisers’ clinics this winter. These clinics will be organised in Lake Tahoe, CA, USA, and Sumy, Ukraine, in conjuction with World Cup rounds 1 and 2.
21/10/2011 || Australia strong at the Oceania Championships ||News||
The Oceania Championships took place in the beginning of October in Victoria and New South Wales in Australia. In 2009 New Zealand dominated the regional championships, but this time it was Australia that was strongest.
