An unofficial European Cup in Trail Orienteering (ECTO) is being organised for the first time this year. The first two competitions were held last weekend in Southern Norway.

Markus Larsson, Eskjö Gymnasium, Sweden won his second gold medal in the Schools M1 class in today’s Long Distance race. England, Slovakia and Sweden all had two winners today.

The IOF Council has appointed Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia as organisers of Ski Orienteering World Cup 2013-2014 and Norway as the organiser of Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships 2015.

Today the first race was held in this year’s World Schools Championships, being staged this week on the Algarve coast in Portugal.

This week the World Schools Orienteering Championships take place beside the Algarve coast in Portugal. The two main races are at Middle Distance on Wednesday and Long Distance on Friday. The event has attracted participants from twenty countries, including an African country, Mozambique, for the first time.
16/04/2013 || IOC Trophy for Danish Orienteering Federation ||News||
A very successful development initiative mounted by the Danish Orienteering Federation (DOF) has resulted in the award of the IOC Trophy – Sport and Sustainable Development to the Federation. It was presented by Denmark’s IOC member Crown Prince Frederik at one of 43 events held in Denmark on Saturday to introduce newcomers to orienteering, in which more than 3,000 people in all took part.
10/04/2013 || Nations’ views on the WOC qualification and starting order ||News||
The IOF member federations took the decision at the 2012 IOF General Assembly to remove the qualification races for the Middle and Long finals of the World Orienteering Championships (WOC) 2014 and onwards. Now they have commented the IOF Council’s proposal on how to handle the question of how many runners a nation can have on the starting line.

Czech Orienteering Federation, together with Sport Department of Czech Television, will broadcast live two events from the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Hradec Králov, Czech Republic.
