28/08/2013 || World MTB Orienteering Championships – second gold for Tõnis Erm ||News||
Home rider Tõnis Erm has clearly hit top form at just the right time; today he won his second gold medal in two days, winning the Middle distance race at Mõedaka in Estonia by 5 seconds. The very experienced Marika Hara, Finland, second in the IOF World Rankings before these Championships, took the women’s title.

Tõnis Erm was a popular winner of the first race of the championships, the sprint, held in Estonia today. His compatriot Lauri Malsroos also excelled himself by gaining the silver medal. Cecilia Thomasson, Sweden, won her first World Championships gold – she won the European Championships Long distance race earlier in the season.

The World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships at both senior and junior level take place this coming week in Estonia. 261 athletes from 26 nations will be taking part in the three individual races and the relay. Furthest travellers are from Australia, Japan and USA.

21/08/2013 || Unofficial Sprint Relay World Cup to be introduced in 2014 ||News||
The IOF Council has approved the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission’s proposal to introduce an unofficial Sprint Relay World Cup series in the year 2014. Sprint Relay will be part of the World Orienteering Championships programme for the first time in Italy next year and the new event format was decided to be tested in advance in conjunction with World Cup 2014.

The sprint race of the Orienteering World Cup Final on 6 October 2013 in Baden, Switzerland, will be broadcast live by Swiss national TV, with the same production team as at the World Orienteering Championships 2012.
11/08/2013 || World Masters Orienteering Championships: seven win double gold ||News||
Seven of the Sprint gold medallists from earlier in the week, three women and four men, repeated the feat in the Long distance finals held on a hot day in Sagna Longa in the Italian Alps. One of these was M35 Petteri Muukkonen, Finland who achieved the same results in 2012 as well.
