06/08/2015 || Extraordinary General Assembly: Split World Championships proposal is carried ||News||
An Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) of the IOF was convened today to discuss a proposal to have a ‘forest’ World Orienteering Championships (WOC) and a ‘Sprint’ WOC in alternate years, as a development from the annual ‘all-in’ WOC programme that exists at present. The proposal was carried.

Junior World Orienteering Championships 2018, Hungary (Kecskemét) World Masters Orienteering Championships 2018, Denmark (Copenhagen) World MTB Orienteering Championships 2018, Austria (Zwettl) World Trail Orienteering Championships 2019, Portugal (Viseu) World Masters Orienteering Championships 2019, Latvia (Riga)
05/08/2015 || World Orienteering Championships: Denmark and Switzerland take Relay gold medals ||News||
Denmark’s women and Switzerland’s men triumphed in the Relay held today at Darnaway Castle, north-east Scotland. Both wins were by convincing margins, with tighter finishes for the silver and bronze medal positions.

The IOF Council has at its meeting on August 3rd approved an update to the WOC special rules. The change is related to how the allocation of starting spots is calculated for the middle and long distance finals, i.e. the calculation of federation points and corresponding allocation of federations to divisions. Annika Billstam, Sweden and Daniel Hubmann, Switzerland are the 2015 Middle Distance champions. Billstam retains the title she won last year, whilst for Hubmann this was the individual medal he had previously failed to get.

The IOF Council has at its meeting on August 1st, 2015 accepted the application for IOF provisional membership from Federación Dominicana de Orientación. The Dominican Republic is IOF member country number 80.
02/08/2015 || World Orienteering Championships: Maja Alm and Jonas Leandersson are Sprint champions ||News||
Maja Alm, Denmark and Jonas Leandersson, Sweden are the new World Champions in Sprint after today’s Final in Forres, north-east Scotland. Maja Alm’s victory was by almost 40 seconds.
