35 Nations at JWOC in Lithuania

A total of 35 nations will be represented when the Junior World Championships get under way at Druskininkai, Lithuania on 3rd July.
For the first time, the sprint format is an official part of the JWOC programme. The sprint final is the first event in the programme, with the long distance final the following day. The programme is completed by middle distance qualification and finals and a relay.
In all there will be 140 women and 181 men in the D20 and H20 age classes participating at Druskininkai, a famous spa town 130 km south of Vilnius. The sprint race takes place in an urban area and parkland in the town. The long distance race is on upland moraine terrain, whilst the middle distance races take place in typical Lithuanian forest with much contour detail, few paths, and reduced runnability and visibility. The relay is in runnable pine forest with dunes.
Leading results, reports and pictures will appear on the IOF website www.orienteering.org throughout the period of JWOC.
