Since 1950, the competitors of Jukola relay figuratively carry a message with them throughout the relay. When the winning team reaches the finish, the last leg runner reads the message out loud. This time the Jukola message was dedicated to the International Orienteering Federation in honour of its 50th Anniversary.

Dalarna region welcomes the world to MTB Orienteering World Cup and World Masters MTB Orienteering Championships to be held for the first time ever on the Scandinavian Peninsula. The competitions will be held near the small cities of Rättvik and Leksand, by the lake Siljan in the heart of Dalarna County in Sweden.

There will be over 50 orienteering nations celebrating the IOF 50th Anniversary at the World Orienteering Championships in France. This is the first time ever over 50 countries have entered to the World Championships – the previous record of participating countries is 42.

Women’s sprint final was held after the men’s race in bright sunshine in the old town of Porvoo. Linnea Gustafsson, Sweden, who has silver from World Championships sprint in 2009, won the race with a big margin, 8 seconds, before her team mate Lena Eliasson, who in her turn was 2 seconds faster than Annika Billstam, also Sweden.

William Lind was 20.6 seconds slower than the winner in the first final of the Nordic Orienteering Tour. He finished sixth – and was the best non-Swiss runner in the men’s class!
