Finland’s Pinja Mäkinen won the gold medal in convincing fashion, finishing with a score 48.5 seconds better than silver medallist Antti Rusanen. The gap to third-placed Petteri Hakala was smaller, just 10.5 seconds.

109 competitors in two qualification heats vied this morning for 36 places in the TempO Final in the European TrailO Championships. Twelve nations have finalists, the most successful being Finland with six athletes through, whilst Norway and sweden both have five.

Antti Rusanen, Finland and Svein Jakobsen, Norway lead the Open and Paralympic classes respectively at the end of Day 1 of the 2-day PreO competition. Just 2 of the 150 competitors completed the course without error.
