Young leaders from five different countries exchanged experiences at a leader camp at WOC in Sweden. An annual event for Nordic countries, but for the first time participants from Portugal, Serbia and Turkey took part.

In some countries, the sport of orienteering has a long history. In other, it has almost just started. In conjunction with the World Orienteering Championships in Strömstad, nine smaller orienteering nations were gathered participating in a WOC clinic.

After Anastasia Denisova met Simone Niggli-Luder at the age of 15, she decided to train hard to improve. Despite her background, coming from a small orienteering nation, she did just that. Now she hopes her results will inspire a new Belarusian generation.

The International World Games Association, IWGA, has allocated spaces for a total of 40 male and 40 female runners to the IOF. The thirteen best nations in the Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships 2016, will have the right to enter up to 2 + 2 runners in the World Games in Wrocław, Poland 2017.

The Swedish Orienteering Federation’s proposal to equalise the winning times for the women’s and men’s long distance race was not approved by the IOF General Assembly.
