The 2012 PostFinance Sprint took place this afternoon in the streets and small parks of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Simone Niggli took her 5th out of 5 possible wins in this year’s World Cup by 14 seconds, in front of a big home crowd. The men’s race was won by Sweden’s Jerker Lysell.

This weekend the annual PostFinance Sprint is being held in St. Gallen, Switzerland as part of the second round of the 2012 World Cup. This spectacular race, fully televised live by the Swiss TV company Schweizer Sportfernsehen, is one of the key races of the season for home runners Simone Niggli and Matthias Merz and provides a fine curtain-raiser for the World Orienteering Championships in Switzerland starting in just over 3 weeks’ time.
