Finland took three medals in today’s Middle distance race, including a gold medal for IOF World Rankings leader Samuli Saarela. Ursina Jäggi, Switzerland was the surprise winner of the women’s race by almost a minute.
21/08/2012 || World MTBO Championships: Sprint golds for Schaffner and Breitschadel ||News||
Christine Schaffner, Switzerland and Tobias Breitschädel, Austria are the first gold medallists at this year’s championships in Veszprém, Hungary. Schaffner won today’s Sprint by 22 seconds whilst Breitschädel’s victory was by just 2 seconds.

The IOF has now published the procedure to obtain approval for electronic punching systems. Only approved punching systems can be used in IOF events.
20/08/2012 || Hungary hosts World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships ||News||
Mountain bike orienteers from 30 nations have gathered in Veszprém, a town 12 km NW of Lake Balaton in Hungary, for the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships (WMTBOC), with the first competition, the Long qualification, taking place today. 100 men and 72 women riders have taken part in today’s races.

The IOF introduces new logos for Orienteering, MTB Orienteering and Ski Orienteering World Cups. The logos will be used both by the IOF and by the local organisers together with the competition name or logo.
01/08/2012 || IOF Event Advisers’ Clinic to be organised in conjunction with World Cup 2013 Round 1 in New Zealand ||News||
The IOF Rules Commission, in cooperation with New Zealand Orienteering Federation, will be organising an IOF Foot Orienteering Event Advisers’ Clinic in conjunction with Oceania Orienteering Championships and World Cup Round 1 at the beginning of year 2013 in New Zealand.

IOF Foot Orienteering World Cup 2013 Special Rules are published and available on the IOF website. World Cup 2013 starts earlier than normally with the Opening Round in New Zealand early January.
