The early bird dealine for entries to the World Masters Orienteering Championships to be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1-8 November, is 20 February.

The information about overall World Cup prize money was missing in the World Cup Special Rules, and it has now been added there.
14/02/2014 || New terrains for Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships in Estonia ||News||
As there is unfortunately no snow in Põlva, Estonia, the organising committee of the Junior World Championships and World Masters Championships has decided to move the competitions to Pannjärve, in Ida-Virumaa county, approx. 180 km from Põlva.

This year’s first issue of Inside Orienteering has been published. Senior Event Adviser Oivind Holt tells about the Brazilian terrains that wait for the World Masters, and you can read more about the huge work the Russian organisers of European Ski Orienteering Championships are doing to guarantee top-quality TV broadcast from the events in Tyumen in March.

The IOF Council has decided to extend the deadline for World Orienteering Championships 2018, World Ski Orienteering Championships 2017 and World Trail Orienteering Championships 2017 and 2018 applications.
06/02/2014 || WMTBOC Long distance qualification system under revision ||News||
The IOF is currently revising the qualification system for the World MTB Orienteering Championship Long distance final. The main motivation for the revision is that the old system does not allow the flexibility to allocate start slots to quickly developing overseas nations that are unable to take part in the World Championships every year.

The IOF is in the process of developing a new World Ranking system. In the meanwhile, all Foot Orienteering World Ranking Events will use the official IOF World Ranking List as at 31 December 2013 as the basis for start lists.

The IOF Council has decided to grant provisional approval for the use of Emit Touch Free Punching System in MTB Orienteering World Ranking Events.
