Decisions taken at the General Assembly

The IOF has now 73 members. At the General Assembly Montenegro and Cyprus were accepted as new members of IOF. The 2016 World Orienteering Championships were awarded to Sweden, the only applicant, and Sweden will also hold the World Trail Orienteering Championships as an integral part of WOC. Norway will organise the 2015 World Ski Orienteering Championships.
The IOF’s Strategic Directions 2012-2018 and the activity plan for the next Congress period (2013-2014) were both accepted with minor amendments. Delegates also agreed to the membership fees and budget plan for the Congress period.
A proposal to introduce adventure racing as a new IOF discipline failed to get the three-quarters majority for the necessary change to the IOF Statutes. A simple majority supported the proposal, however, and it was decided that IOF Council should decide how to proceed further, in collaboration with nations that have adventure racing as part of their programmes.
41 nations in all were represented at the General Assembly today.
