At the second-last control in the Middle qualification, the runners arrived in very different ways. Kristina Rybakovaite was one who jumped into the control. “I often jump over things in the forest”, the Lithuanian smiles.
She also had good control of the map and achieved a good ninth position in her qualification group today. Like her team mates Inga Kazlauskaite and Gabija Razaiyte she is ready for the final.
“I like the terrain here. The orienteering is very challenging and I like it that way”, Kristina says.
– Are you experienced in it?
“I have only been just here three-four days ahead of WOC and prepared, but in earlier years I have been to other places in Switzerland and become used to similar terrain”.
Her best World Championships performance until now for the 25-year-old from Kaunas in Lithuania is a 34th place. “My ambition for the final is to be among the 20 best”, she says.
