At the end of the second round of the 2012 World Cup, Marika Hara and Jussi Laurila, both Finnish riders, head the World Cup standings. Marika Hara’s consistent performances throughout the season so far have given her a massive 65-point lead in the women’s standings.
Two victories, two second placings and a third place in the five individual races so far place Marika in a dominating position with 265 points. Next is Christine Schaffner-Raeber, Switzerland with 200 points, and behind her are Ksenia Chernykh, Russia with 188 and Maja Rothweiler, Switzerland with 186.
Jussi Laurila’s three fine races in the recent round in Poland – a first and two second placings – put him in the lead in the men’s list by 8 points from Italy’s Luca Dallavalle. Third is František Bogar, Czech Republic with 193 points and fourth is his compatriot Jiři Hradil with 178.
The three individual races in the World Championships in Hungary in August also count for World Cup points.
