Jonas Leandersson was the star of men’s Sprint this afternoon at the European Orienteering Championships in Sweden. The home audience rewarded the Swede with big applause for beating the previous leader, Bulgarian Kiril Nikolov, by 5 seconds. Despite some recent problems with his heel, the current World Champion Daniel Hubmann, Switzerland, took a shared third place with Jerker Lysell, Sweden. Great Britain’s Scott Fraser finished fifth and Switzerland’s Matthias Kyburz sixth.
Interviews from the sprint will be published in Around the Arena on the IOF frontpage.
