Posted on | May 17, 2012 | Category: News

Olav Lundanes, Norway, didn’t give anyone else a chance on the European Orienteering Championships middle distance: he led the race from start to finish, and finally won the competition with 1.19 minutes’ marginal to defending European Champion Valentin Novikov, Russia. Carl Waaler Kaas made Norway’s national day celebrations even better with a bronze medal, before a surprise name, Oleksandr Kratov, Ukraine, on fourth place.
Best home-runner was Gustav Bergman on a shared fifth place with Matthias Merz, Switzerland. Reigning World Champion on middle distance, Thierry Gueorgiou, could not start due to a shin inflammation.
