2007 World Ski Orienteering Championships: Red group allocation method

Red group places are individual and are allocated for each WOC competition by the following criteria, applied in sequential order:
1. If entered for the competition, the competitors placed 1-8 in World Cup 2006 overall scores. If some of the first 8 are not entered, then less than 8 will be allocated by this criterion.
2. From those entered for the competition, additional competitors shall be allocated, based on the standing of the IOF World Ranking List one week prior to the first WOC competition, to bring the number up to a total of 20(*).
(*) If the total number of competitors entered for the competition is less than 40, this number shall be limited to a maximum of 50% of the total number of competitors, i.e. 39 -> 19, 38 -> 19, 37 -> 18, 36 -> 18 etc
3. If not included by criteria 1-2, all individual medallists from WOC2007’s previous competitions shall additionally be included in the red group (if entered for the competition).
4. If no competitors from the organising federation are qualified by criteria 1-3, the highest ranked competitor among those entered from the organising federation (based on the standing of the IOF World Ranking List one week prior to the first competition) is qualified.
5. In case of ties in the last placing when applying criteria 1-4, all competitors sharing the placing are qualified.
Competitors allocated to the red group cannot change to another starting group.
If there are 40 or more entered competitors, the above given criteria will give 20-27 competitors (plus possible ties) in the red group:
0-8 competitors by criteria (1)
12-20 competitors by criteria (2)
0-6 competitors by criteria (3)
0-1 competitor by criteria (4)
