Barbados new IOF member

At its meeting in Helsinki, Finland, the IOF Council provisionally approved the application for full membership from Barbados Orienteering Federation. To be final, the Council’s decision must be ratified by the XXV Ordinary General Assembly in Trondheim in August.
For many years, the sport of orienteering has been promoted by the Barbados Cadet Corps as a training for their cadets. Recently, the Barbados Orienteering Federation was formed to make orienteering into a full national sport. The federation is a full member of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc.
Barbados is the 50th full member of the IOF. The IOF now has 71 member federations.
