The team from Great Britain that has been working with the World Championships 2015 bid had big smiles when it was announced who will be the host in 2015. They succeeded. Now they are ready for the next stage.
“I am ready to go on, but in fact my work is finished now”, smiles Dave Peel, Director for the bid.
The 2015 Championships will be based on Inverness, where the World Championships were held in 1999.
Sweden, with Strömstad as venue, was the other applicant. “They were two very good candidates”, said Marcel Schiess, Vice President of the International Orienteering Federation. The IOF Council decided on the organiser.
One of the issues Peel says they will be working very hard with is TV coverage. They want to have a good TV production that will be transmitted to a lot of countries.
