Women’s sprint final: gold, silver & bronze to Sweden!
Posted on | August 16, 2011 | Category: News
In an intensely exciting women’s sprint final in the centre of Chambery, Sweden took all three medals, continuing the superb form shown earlier in the season.
Gold went to Linnea Gustafsson, winner of one of the heats this morning, with the vastly experienced Helena Jansson taking the silver medal and another heat winner, Lena Eliasson in the bronze medal position. For a while it seemed as though Lena could win, but as she entered the finish run-in it became clear that she would have to settle for bronze.
Maja Alm, Denmark was fourth, picking up well after a slow start. Fifth was Anastasiya Tikhonova, Russia and the sixth and final place on the podium went to two runners who took precisely the same time – Anni-Maija Fincke, Finland and Emma Klingenberg, Denmark.
