IOF Council meeting: New members admitted, event organisers appointed

Georgia New IOF Member
At its recent meeting held in Aichi, Japan, the IOF Council approved an application for associate membership from Georgia, and confirmed the application for full membership from DPR Korea, former associate member since the year 2000.
Earlier this year, the Council has approved applications for associate membership from Kenya and Somalia, and admitted Mongolia to full membership. The current IOF membership figure is now 67.
Portugal and Sweden appointed organisers of IOF events
Council decided to appoint Portugal organiser of the World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC) in 2008. The event will be held in the Marinha Grande region. The 2006 WMOC will be staged in Austria, whilst Finland has been appointed host of the event in 2007.
The 2008 edition of the Junior World Orienteering Championships was awarded to the Swedish Orienteering Federation, and the event will be hosted in Gothenburg on the western coast of Sweden.
The 2006 JWOC has earlier been awarded to Lithuania, and the 2007 event will be held in Australia.
