The international Ski Orienteering season starts November 27th with the sprint competition at the World Cup in Ylläs, Finland.
Based upon experience gained at the European Ski Orienteering Championships earlier in 2017 and recommendations from the SkiO Athletes Commission, the IOF Council have approved several changes and clarifications to the competition rules for ski orienteering.
- Rules regarding forbidden areas have been clarified and cross-referenced to the map standards.
- The rules have been harmonised in several areas with the rules of the other IOF disciplines. For example that results shall be based only upon times for the entire course.
- Jury rules have been updated and harmonised across all IOF disciplines.
- Improved guidelines for Team Officials Meetings.
Get prepared for the new season by reading the updated rules documents which are available on the SkiO Rules page.
