Consultation on new IOF Sustainability Policy

The Environment Commission (EnvC) has prepared a preliminary proposal for a new IOF Sustainability Policy. The proposed policy sets principles for both the IOF, the national federations and all orienteering events.
The policy suggests that IOF itself and IOF events should be carbon neutral, that all orienteering events shall act carefully in line with best environmental practice and that the national federation shall prepare guidelines specific to their own countries.
The Environment Commission would very much appreciate feedback on the content in the document from all orienteering communities, and especially from national federations. The consultation period will last until 31 July 2017. Please send feedback to the chairperson of Environment Commission Einar Tommelstad tommelstad@gmail.com.
After the consultation process, the proposed Sustainability Policy together with background papers and received feedback will be submitted to Council. The proposed policy will then be finalised as a proposal for adoption on the General Assembly in 2018.
