LIVE Orienteering’s first month
Posted on | March 16, 2017 | Category: News, Newsletter

LIVE Orienteering was introduced as the new channel for orienteering fans to follow orienteering events and news at the beginning of February.
During the past 6 weeks the European Ski Orienteering Championships and the World Ski Orienteering Championships have been presented on the page to more than 20 000 users. Interestingly we can see the use of mobile and tablet devices being quite large for the page with 30% of the users visiting the page using mobile phones and 10% using tablets. This is higher than we see on the other IOF web pages and may reflect the entertainment usage of LIVE Orienteering.
Orienteering went viral
After Stanimir Belomazhev’s historical first gold medal, and his special celebration of it, for Bulgaria in the Ski Orienteering World Championships, the IOF had an all time high interest in Orienteering. More than 230 000 persons watched the videos from the event live or after the event in IOF’s channels! We are hoping to see this record continue to grow when we soon enter the summer season.
New version to be ready for the summer season
LIVE Orienteering is now in its second development phase that will be ready for the beginning of the summer season. Focus on the development will be user friendliness, featuring an improved event calendar overview, re-structuring the «live» and event pages and improving integration with social media. If you have any ideas on how LIVE Orienteering could be developed to be even more entertaining and attractive for orienteering fans please contact IOF Marketing Manager Hans Jørgen Kvåle, hans.jorgen.kvale@orienteering.org
