The successful Asian Mapping Clinic recruited 30 mappers from 5 Asian Federations.
Organised in tandem with the Asian Orienteering Championships 2016, the Asian Orienteering Mapping Clinic (AOMC), with the support of the IOF, opened on the 22nd April 2016 at the National Chung-Cheng University, Chia-Yi, Taiwan.
The Chinese Taipei Orienteering Association welcomed 30 mappers from 5 Asian federations including China, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei. A 3-day mapping workshop included lectures, terrain survey and discussion led by Dr. Perola Olsson from Sweden. The aim of the AOMC was to elevate the mapping quality in the Asian region.
All participants were enthusiastic to improve their mapping skills through the introduction of ISOM & ISSOM, field survey, practicing digitizing techniques and exchange of experience. Sooner or later, all participants will be key persons to widely spread the sport of orienteering within their home countries in Asia.
