Events in Ski Orienteering coming up

The coming season in ski orienteering gives athletes a big variation of challenges.
– The new world ranking system makes it more important to have good ranking. Therefore, it’s important that countries organize world ranking events (WRE). That helps younger athletes to get a better start position at international events, says Eivind Tonna, chairman of the Ski Orienteering Commission.
Eivind Tonna is very pleased that USA is organizing three WRE events this winter. USA has also been chosen to organize the World Cup and World Masters Ski Orienteering Championships 2018 and this will give more experience to the American organizers. It is also a great way to give the American skiers a chance to compete in good and challenging conditions.
– Hopefully many Europeans take the chance to get a different ski orienteering adventure the coming season.
Eivind Tonna is looking forward to the challenging world cup program.
– The complete ski orienteer will be the overall winner. The World Cup starts with technical ski-o in Finland, then more route choices and physical challenges in Germany and the last round in Austria is a mix of the first two rounds.
The coming season the students get a great challenge when the first World University Ski Orienteering Championships will be held in Tula, Russia in February.
– It is a very important and a good way to present ourselves on our way to 2019 FISU Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
