Daniel Hubmann: Some thoughts on his career
Posted on | October 3, 2015 | Category: Arena
On the last race in the World Cup Daniel Hubmann was the best yet again, and the Swiss phantom got one more overall victory in World Cup. It could be more, but how many years will he go on?
Nobody knows how long Hubmann will continue, as he doesn’t even know himself.
– I have no plan for when to stop, he smiles.
The 32 year old Swiss secured his overall victory in World Cup with top score also in the last race.
– The end of the World Cup has been the big goal after WOC, he tells.
At WOC he won middle and forest relay and got silver on the long distance. Overall he now has three WOC golds. The first one as taken in 2008 and then it was two more in 2009.
In fact there are a lot of similarities between 2009 and 2015.
– That’s my best years as an orienteer.
– How is your level now compared with 2009?
– It’s not easy to say that I am on a higher level now than in 2009, but today’s level is for sure at least not weaker than in the season six years ago.
On the final race in the World Cup he ran as he usually does, with control and very fast, and went to the top of the podium twice, and was also honoured with the national hymn for the overall victory.
– I am very proud that I managed to win again, he says.
