Sue Harvey awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire

IOF Honorary President Sue Harvey has been awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. She received the award for her services to orienteering and to the local community. Sue Harvey has contributed significantly to the development of the sport for over forty years at the local, national and international levels.
Within the International Orienteering Federation, Sue Harvey joined the Press Commission in 1972. She became Honorary Secretary General in 1983 and was elected member of the IOF Council in 1986.
In 1994 Sue Harvey was elected President of the IOF. When resigning from the President’s post in 2004, she was appointed Honorary President for life and awarded the IOF Gold Pin as a mark of recognition of her exceptional service and personal contribution to international orienteering.
Sue Harvey has been a Member of the Board of Governors of the International Master Games Association since 1994 and a Member of the Executive Committee of the International World Games Association since 2001.
