Tugba Daye from Turkey trains orienteering several times a week, and says with a smile that she has gold in her mind.
-I want to win JWOC 2011, she declares.
Tugba, who has two years left in junior class, finished 44th on the long distance in Italy. That is the best achievement of a Turkish junior ever. In the middle qualification she made too many mistakes and didn’t make it to the A final.
-I was very happy after the long distance, but not so happy with the middle qualification race, she says.
The 18-year-old athlete lives in Izmir, a city with approximately 50 orienteers. Tugba is mostly training alone. She has been training for five years, and she believes her chances are good in the future. She also has a good coach, Ömer Furkan, who helps her on her way to the top in the sport that she loves.
