Junior World Orienteering Championships: All Czechs in the A final

Czech Republic is the only nation with all runners taking part in the Junior World Championships middle distance A final today. They hope for a medal – at least one.
-Two medals? Oh, no. We will be satisfied with one medal, smiles Libor Zridkavesely. The man with the difficult name has been head coach for the junior team for nine years. This is his tenth and last JWOC. He has two small children at home and he has decided to give the family more time.
Libor Zridkavesely thinks especially Ivana Bochenkova and Matej Klusacek have good chances to fight high up in the final. Both won their heat with good margin. Especially Ivana impressed. The gap to Polish Hanna Wisniewska, who finished second in the heat, was more than two minutes.
Czech Republic has for a long time been working well with the juniors. They have got medals in the last three championships. Both in Australia and Sweden they got two medals, one of which was gold. This year they have so far got one medal, Terza Novotna's shared silver in the sprint.
Eager runners are of course one reason for the success. Good coaching is another one. -They were told to take it carefully yesterday and they did it, says Libor.
He also thinks that the terrain in Primiero valley is not so different from what can be found at home. The Czechs have had two training camps in Italy, one last autumn and one this spring.
