Bobach gold and silver!
Today is certainly a day for celebration for the Bobach family of Denmark. Ida Bobach, silver medallist in the sprint yesterday, went one better today with victory by 1 minute and 21 seconds over yesterday’s winner and gold medallist at long distance last year, Jenny Lönnkvist of Sweden. Marika Teini of Finland took third place, 55 seconds further down.
Later in the afternoon Ida’s brother Søren came into the limelight, leading the men’s race for a while before eventually being beaten into silver medal position by Gustav Bergman of Sweden. Bergman finished with an outstanding lead of 3 minutes and 24 seconds. Martin Hubmann of Switzerland took the bronze for the second day in succession, this time 6 seconds slower than Søren Bobach.
