The Czech Republic was the fifth team to finish on the last leg, but a lot happened and they climbed up to the third position.
The anchors of both Finland and Norway were taken out of the relay on the last leg before finishing. On the second leg the Norwegian had jumped over a control, and the Finn had mis-punched.
“We checked and did everything OK”, smile the three bronze medal winners on the Czech Team, which was a bit after the four leading teams out on the last leg. Jiri Bouchal was not in the medal fight when he started, but at the finish line he was met by some very happy team members.
Jakub Skoda and Radek Laciga were in the team together with Jiri Bouchalc.
Their medal is the first ever relay medal at WSOC for a Czech team.
“We hope this will be an inspiration for the youngsters in ski orienteering”,they say.
