Eduard Khrennikov was again on the top of the podium at a World Championships. He got one more gold.
“This was my 14th, and it is also some time since the last one”, he says.
Kirill Veselov did a very good first leg and did better than he had done in the individual races at the championships in Norway. Then it was up to Khrennikov. He changed over as number two, just three seconds after the leading team, Sweden.
“In fact it’s four years ago I stopped my career. Now I am a coach and have priority for that. The training I get is together with my athletes”, the legend tells.
After Khrennikov had completed the second leg Andrey Lamov did a very good technical leg. Almost one minute was the difference between the winners and Sweden in second place.
-You’re still in business at the next championships, Eduard?
“In Krasnojarsk I will be 44 years old. We’ll see”, smiles Khrennikov, who got his second last gold six years ago.
With the relays the championships in Norway have ended. The next World Championships is in Krasnoyarsk in 2017. On the way to that championships is the European Championships in Austria next winter.
