World Cup Middle Distance: classy Hubmann well in front

Daniel Hubmann, already clear World Cup winner overall this year, finished the forest series of events in style today with a win by 1.45. In form Ida Bobach, Denmark achieved her first win in a World Cup race.
Ida Bobach will be delighted to have beaten Swiss triple World Champion Judith Wyder by 9 seconds today. Her team-mate Emma Klingenberg was third, 1.31 down on the winning time. The Swiss team impressed with four in the top six. World Cup leader Tove Alexandersson, Sweden finished in seventh place.
It was a Swiss one and two in the men’s race, with Florian Howald producing a fine effort to come second. Søren Bobach, Denmark overcame the disappointment of disqualification in yesterday’s Sprint Relay with a third-place run, 1.56 down on Hubmann. Olav Lundanes, Norway, second-placed in the World Cup standings before this race, finished eighth.
The World Cup Final is tomorrow from 13.30 local time in the centre of Liestal.
