Tove Alexandersson didn’t take part in the sprint relay in Basel today. That wasn’t what was originally planned; the World Cup leader wanted to take part.

Last year skipped Tove the second last race in the World Cup in order to do the best she could in the last race. She was leading overall, but she was overtaken by Simone Niggli in the last race. This year Tove has a much bigger gap, and until a week ago she wanted to run three races in Switzerland.

“I wanted to run the sprint relay, but when I hit my left knee on a stone at the Swedish Championship in Middle Distance one week ago, the plans were changed,” she says. She was helping at a race for Swiss children today.

– Will you run at the weekend – the last two individual races in this year’s World Cup?

“Oh, yes!”

– How is the knee now?

“It’s still a bit tender,” she says.
