There was a huge battle for the victory on the last leg of the men’s relay, but one man was strongest of them all: Gustav Bergman. He saw Jan Prochazka from Czech Republic just behind him for the last kilometres.
“But he didn’t seem to come closer”, Bergman says. “I felt strong.”
The Swede was the strongest and he met his team mates at the finish day and they showed big happiness.
For Bergman this was also a “revenge” after the middle distance final where he didn’t do as well as he had wished.
Jonas Leandersson ran the first leg. He won also the sprint on Sunday.
“The championships almost could not have gone better”, he says. Leandersson was sick just before the competitions and couldn’t take part in the middle qualification, but after that everything really went well.
The bronze medalist from the long distance on Tuesday, Fredrik Johansson, ran the second leg. “I was a bit tired from the day before”, he says.
Also the Swedish women had a good day yesterday: they got a silver medal with their second team!
