Fog delays first day of Trail Orienteering Championships

The TempO qualification competition of the European Trail Orienteering Championships on Sunday was delayed because of fog; it was simply not possible to see the controls from the viewing points! After a 2-hour wait the fog cleared sufficiently and the event could get under way on a golf course close to Palmela.
The Scandinavian countries fared best, and the winners of the two heats were both from Finland: Antti Rusanen and Lauri Kontkanen. TempO World Champion Pinja Mäkinen, also from Finland, was third in her heat.
The TrailO Championships continue today with the first day of the two-day PreO competition.
