Orienteering World Cup continues in Spain
Posted on | April 5, 2014 | Category: News

Orienteering World Cup leader Tove Alexandersson took a convincing victory in the second race of the World Cup 2014. The long distance in Murcia, Spain turned out to be a real challenge for the runners, both mentally and physically. Alexandersson showed her strength by winning with an impressive gap of over 4 minutes to her team mate Lena Eliasson. Lilian Forsgren finished third.
Athletes from France and Great Britain – Amelie Chataing and Tessa Hill – took fourth and fifth places. The runners said the courses were very challenging and interesting.
The men’s race was an equally challenging experience for the runners. Unfortunately a couple of controls were by mistake taken out of the forest too early, and the last starters were affected by this. The men’s class was subsequently voided.
The World Cup continues tomorrow with a Middle distance race.
