Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: relay golds for Sweden and Finland

The strong favourites Sweden won the women’s relay today by a margin of almost 5 minutes, whilst the men’s relay was won by Finland by an even bigger margin, more than 7½ minutes. The Finns showed strength in depth, with their second team finishing second in the race.
Russia took the silver medals and Finland the bronze in the women’s relay, whilst in the men’s it was again Russia with silver, whereas the bronze medals went to Norway.
Team scores are compiled from the results of all the individual races and the relays. Sweden was the team winner overall, mainly on account of an outstanding performance throughout by their women. Finland was second and Russia third.
In the European Youth Championships relays, Finland won the women’s race ahead of two Russian teams and then Estonia, and in the men’s race Russia took first and second places followed by Finland and Switzerland.
