Three of Switzerland’s stars with map and compass are stopping their orienteering careers this autumn, but there is one who has no plans for quitting.
Daniel Hubmann is simply looking ahead. On the Middle distance he showed great strength and won a fresh World Cup victory. After a couple of years with injuries he is now really enjoying orienteering again. “Now I can do all the training I want”, he says.
Since August the Swiss star has done just that. Before then he wanted not to run too much. One reason was that he didn’t want to risk anything.
He is of course also looking for more World Championship medals. In Finland this summer he didn’t succeed in getting a medal. Due to injuries he couldn’t take part in the Championships on home ground in Lausanne in 2012.
“Should I carry on until the next time there will be a World Championships in Switzerland? That could be some years”, he smiles. “But I have not been thinking about stopping”.
