From marathon runner to Sprint Orienteering World Champion

“I had never been so well prepared for an orienteering Championships before. For over a year before WOC I had orienteering fully in focus”, says our Athlete of October, Mårten Boström, Finland. Focusing paid off, and he became the only Finn taking a gold medal at the home World Championships in Vuokatti this summer.
Mårten has made a long trip from when he first began orienteering at the age of four, via athletics to now being the World Orienteering Champion in Sprint. Read about his story in Athlete of the Month!
