World Masters Orienteering Championships first start on Sunday

Masters competitors will soon arrive in Sestriere, Italy for the World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC) to be held in conjunction with the World Masters Games (WMG) multisport event. This year’s championships will have participants from a total of 45 countries including ARG, BRA, CHN, HKG, IND, ISR, KAZ, MDA, SRB, RSA and URU. With 2 887 entered runners, orienteering will be the biggest sport in the World Masters Games 2013.
The World Masters Orienteering Championships will start with Sprint model event on Saturday in Barnodeccia. The Sprint qualification and final will follow on Sunday and Monday in Pragelato and Sestriere respectively. After the rest day on Tuesday the two Long distance qualification races will be held on consecutive days in Sansicario Pariol. The last championships event, Long distance final, on the second Saturday will be located in Claviere/Cesana Monti della Luna.
